Yvonne Strahovski to Co-Star in THE ASTRONAUT WIVES CLUB

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Yvonne Strahovski will co-star in the upcoming limited series The Astronaut Wives Club, created by Josh Schwartz (co-creator of Chuck) and Stephanie Savage.

Based on the book by the same name, The Astronaut Wives Club is a 10-episode series coming to ABC mid-season (that’s as specific as they’re willing to get right now). Here’s the official synopsis from ABC, although I highly recommend checking out the book as well.

Based on the book by Lily Koppel, this 10 episode series tells the story of the women who were key players behind some of the biggest events in American history.  As America’s astronauts were launched on death-defying missions, Life Magazine documented the astronauts’ families, capturing the behind-the-scenes lives of their young wives.  Overnight, these women were transformed from military spouses into American royalty. As their celebrity rose and tragedy began to touch their lives, they rallied together.

Yvonne will play Rene Carpenter, who is married to Mercury astronaut Scott Carpenter (played by Wilson Bethel). A mother of four, she’s strong and upfront and enjoys the limelight. She relishes being center of attention and is the only one of the wives singled out for her own magazine cover.

The rest of the cast includes: Dominique McElligott as Louise Shepard, JoAnna Garcia Swisher as Betty Grissom, Odette Annable as Trudy Cooper, Zoe Boyle as Jo Schirra, Azure Parsons as Annie Glenn, Erin Cummings as Marge Slayton, Yvonne Strahovski as Rene Carpenter, Desmond Harrington as Alan Shepard, Bret Harrison as Gordo Cooper, Kenneth Mitchell as Deke Slayton, Sam Reid as John Glenn, Aaron McCusker as Wally Schirra, and  Joel Johnstone as Gus Grissom.

Yvonne Strahovski - 24: Live Another Day

Could Yvonne Strahovski Take Over 24?

As 24: Live Another Day moves into the second half of its limited series run, Yvonne Strahovski’s Kate Morgan continues to impress viewers and Jack Bauer. In a recent interview, 24 executive producer Howard Gordon and series co-creator Robert Cochran told TVLine that they have considered a future for the series with Yvonne taking over the lead from Kiefer Sutherland.

TVLine also asked Gordon and series co-creator Robert Cochran if, should 24 return again in one form or another, Kiefer Sutherland might pass the baton, leaving, say, Yvonne Strahovksi’s spunky Kate Morgan to fight the next good fight.

“I think it’s a possibility,” Cochran allowed. “There are no specific plans right now, but that’s the kind of thing we’d consider.” Added Gordon: “The format itself is very sturdy and with the right story it can be compelling. So if a [Jack-free] story presented itself to us, we would be open to it.”

What do you think, would you watch Kate Morgan lead the way against the world’s baddies?

Yvonne Strahovski - NY Post April 2014

Yvonne Strahovski Featured in NY POST (New Pics!)

The New York Post has a new interview with Yvonne Strahovski, along with stunning photos of Yvonne in gorgeous spring dresses and shoes that. I. need. now.

While it’s lovely to get some new about Yvonne’s role in 24: Live Another Day, this reporter clearly doesn’t know much about her career trajectory. The piece is written as though 24 is Yvonne’s first major role, basically writing off Chuck and Dexter as “recurring roles”. Ahem.

Here’s an excerpt about 24:

Strahovski, 31, says she plays her super-agent character, Kate Morgan, with a purposeful coldness and detachment. Morgan has been unwittingly married to a traitor, which she and the audience discover as the show opens. Strahovski delivers a star-making performance on the highly anticipated “24” reboot, which premieres May 5 on Fox and picks up four years after the original series ended its nine-year run in 2010 — with Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) living as a fugitive in London.

“You meet Kate at a point in her life when she’s feeling dejected and doesn’t have a lot to hold onto,” Strahovski says. “When Jack Bauer comes into the picture, and she has an opportunity to make things right and maybe prove herself, she jumps at it, and then turns into someone who’s hunting him in a way. It’s dark.”

Beyond that, Strahovski can’t reveal much more about the closely guarded plot.
