We’re suckers for nerd herders, and Aussie newcomer Strahovski fits the bill perfectly as hapless Chuck’s CIA chaperone Sarah Walker, pulling him out of danger and sighing in exasperation at his geek compulsions. She’s one-stop shopping when you need a hot, grumpy blonde willing to wear a Princess Leia slave outfit.

IGN, however, had the good sense to rank Yvonne as their number one “Boob Tube Babe“:

Body of Work: Yeah, that’s right. Yvonne. Is. Number. One. Deal with it. And look at her: Chuck‘s often pig-tailed protector is one hot, ass-kicking babe. She is the sexiest thing to happen to TV since one Ms. Sydney Bristow, and we anticipate Yvonne to follow in Jennifer Garner’s successful footsteps. 2007 was Yvonne’s breakout year, and we defy anyone to say otherwise.

Besides, if you turn your nose up at her, a girl who wears the aforementioned Leia bikini and wears it well, then, Stars cannot be held accountable for the crap your friends will give ya.

Soon after she was cast as CIA agent Sarah Walker on the NBC TV series CHUCK, Yvonne Strahovski asked Josh Schwartz why he gave her the part. After all, she was an unknown Australian actress with no U.S. credits to her name, and not a likely candidate for a primetime show. Schwartz, who co-created CHUCK with Chris Fedak, didn’t have to think long before giving his answer.

According to NBC News :

The “Green is Universal” theme is being driven home this week in a big way by NBC.

The network’s making a company wide effort this week to raise environmental consciousness. Much of that effort is coming on news programs, but it’s also extending into primetime. The theme will be reflected in storylines for all of the network’s shows.

“Chuck” co-star Yvonne Strahovski is already on board.

“I drive a hybrid. I’m from Australia and I’m already used to saving water and we save water a lot,” Strahovski explained.

The week’s goal is spreading awareness through creativity. For example, the dresses worn by the “Deal or No Deal” models this week will be made from recycled parachutes. The sitcom “30 rock” is taking “The Green is Universal” message to fictional extremes, thanks to an obnoxious NBC eco-mascot played by David Schwimmer.

“I hope that people watch it, listen and take action,” added “Las Vegas” star Molly Sims.

I’m stuck on Chuck. (I just had to get that out of the way.) But gratuitous rhyming aside, I am loving this show. Here’s one reason.

Her name is Yvonne Strahovski and, obviously, she’s hot. But more about her in a minute.

Chuck is about a geeky computer repair guy (redundant, I know), coincidentally named Chuck, who gets an e-mail full of pictures embedded with government secrets that are somehow downloaded to his brain. He can’t access the data, though, until he sees something related to one of the pictures. The NSA and CIA send agents to recover the data, but when they discover that the top-secret files are hidden in Chuck’s mind, they have to protect him while getting his help with spy stuff.

So, Chuck is a secret agent on the side while trying to live a normal geek life. Jake 2.0 was similar, true. But Chuck doesn’t take itself so seriously. The show has action, comedy, suspense and hot women. What’s not to love? Maybe I wouldn’t like it so much if I weren’t a geek myself, but I am and I do.

Strahovski (she changed her name from Strzechowski) plays CIA agent Sarah Walker, who goes undercover as a waitress at the Weinerlicious. She also pretends to be Chuck’s girlfriend. Did I mention that she’s hot? Even in a cheesy waitress outfit.

CAN’T GET ENOUGH? Then you’re pretty much crap out of luck, because this is the Aussie actress’ first work in the States. (Unless you wanna comb eBay for her Down Under TV series Headland and Sea Patrol. Didn’t think so.)
