The 2013 Theatre World Awards, which recognize outstanding Broadway and off-Broadway debut performances, have been announced, and Yvonne Strahovski is among those being honored. Her Broadway debut as Lorna in Golden Boy last winter received raves from critics and audiences alike, and awards were bound to follow.

Other winners include Tom Hanks and Tom Sturridge who also made the transition from film to theater. The awards will be presented at The Music Box theater on June 3.

It’s finally official! Yvonne Strahovski will reprise her role as Hannah McKay in the eighth season of Dexter, EW reports.

Fans suspected she’d be back this season, but producers (and Yvonne) have kept mum about her return until now. And making the news even better, EW is hosting a live Q&A with Yvonne tonight (April 10) on Twitter starting at 7/6c. The Saturn Award nominations were announced today, and Yvonne received one for Best Guest Starring Role in a Series for her amazing performance as Hannah McKay on Dexter! The series picked up a total of 5 nominations, including:

• Best Syndicated Cable Television Series
• Best Actor (Michael C. Hall)
• Best Supporting Actress (Jennifer Carpenter)
• Best Guest Starring Role (Yvonne Strahovski & Ray Stevenson)

The Saturn Award ceremony will take place in June. Congratulations to Yvonne and everyone at Dexter!

In other news, Paramount announced that Dexter season 7 will be available on DVD & Blu-ray on May 14, 2013, in advance of season 8′s premiere in June (no confirmation yet on whether Yvonne will reprise her role in season 8). The Guilt Trip arrives in theaters across the country today. Starring Seth Rogan and Barbra Streisand as a mother and son who embark on a cross-country road trip together, the movie co-stars Yvonne Strahovski as Rogan’s high school sweetheart.

We don’t know a lot about her role, but we do know that Yvonne went brunette for it and that she plays the (very) pregnant wife of Colin Hanks’ character. Check your local theater listings for showtimes.

Golden Boy is officially off and running on Broadway, and the reviews are overwhelmingly positive for the production over all and Yvonne Strahovski in particular.

The Hollywood Reporter posted their glowing review, paying special attention to Yvonne’s Broadway debut as Lorna:

Strahovski, an Australian actress best known for her television work in NBC’s Chuck and Showtime’s Dexter, makes a striking Broadway debut. Playing a role originated by Frances Farmer, Strahovski looks smashing in Zuber’s sharp ‘30s suits, nailing both the brittle façade and the longing for genuine feeling that grows as Lorna is pulled between Tom and Joe.

The New York Times praises Yvonne in their review as well:

The icily beautiful Ms. Strahovski, making a striking Broadway debut, brings out the velvety heart beating under Lorna’s cool, hardened-steel exterior. Slinging Lorna’s tart wisecracks with the expertise of a 1930s B-movie star, she also manages to turn her borderline stereotypical character into a rounded human being who is almost as tortured by Joe’s plight as he is.

Yvonne Strahovski is New York City to prepare for her upcoming role in the revival of Golden Boy on Broadway. She’ll star opposite Tony Shaloub and Seth Numrich. Numrich stars as Joe, a promising violinist who is tempted to become a boxer; Shaloub plays Joe’s father; and Yvonne plays, Lorna Moon, Joe’s manager’s girlfriend who Joe falls for as well. Last night Yvonne, Seth, and Tony appeared at a photo call to promote the play, which begins previews on November 8 with opening night set for December 6. Golden Boy will be performed at the Belasco Theater, where the play was first presented in 1937.
