It’s finally official! Yvonne Strahovski will reprise her role as Hannah McKay in the eighth season of Dexter, EW reports.

Fans suspected she’d be back this season, but producers (and Yvonne) have kept mum about her return until now. And making the news even better, EW is hosting a live Q&A with Yvonne tonight (April 10) on Twitter starting at 7/6c. Complex Magazine has a fun new interview with Yvonne Strahovski in their December/January issue, including gorgeous new photos and a cute video (below). Here’s an excerpt from the interview.

How do you punish people who do you wrong?
I drug them and take them out to a forest, where I wrap them in plastic and—oh, wait, that’s Dexter.

What’s the shadiest thing you’ve discovered about someone you’ve dated?
On our first date, one guy farted loudly in front of me. I considered that shady for a split second, before I burst into laughter and thought, Wow, he’s a keeper.

What do fans ask you to say most often in your Australian accent?
Everyone loves to hear me say “no.” When an Aussie says “no,” you can hear all the vowel sounds in the alphabet. I often get made fun of for it.

Now that Hannah McKay’s sinister secret is out – or at least part of it – how long will she last in Miami? Dexter isn’t convinced that she’s rehabilitated and his Dark Passenger has some ideas about what to do next in this sneak peek at Sunday’s episode of Dexter.

Mo Ryan at HuffPo premiered a video of Yvonne Strahovski in her first big scene on Dexter (her guest starring role begins Sunday, October 14), and it looks like she has Dexter, I mean Mr. Morgan, a little rattled.

Showtime aired an extended preview for Dexter this week, giving us our first look at Yvonne Strahovski as Hannah McKay. It looks like we’re going to be seeing a very different role from her!

TV Guide interviewed Dexter showrunner Scott Buck about the new season, and scored a lot of new information about Yvonne’s role.

What can you tell us about Yvonne Strahovski’s character?
Buck: She plays a character named Hannah McKay, who, when she was 15 years old, hit the road with Wayne Randall on what ended up being a crime spree. He killed a number of people on the way before they were finally arrested. She was arrested as well. Because he did all the killing, she was sent to juvenile hall for six years and was released at the age of 21, and has since then lived a very calm, reclusive life. But with the reemergence of Wayne Randall, who has been in prison all these years, now saying that there are actually more bodies out there that he can lead the police to, the case becomes news again, and it forces Hannah to come out in a way that she had much preferred not to. Because of that, she will cross paths with Dexter and it becomes very volatile in an interesting way.

You’re saying she’s trying to life a quiet life, but intersecting with a serial killer probably doesn’t help.
Buck: No, not in the least. [Laughs] They’re not particularly good for each other, but at the same time, they’re the best possible thing for each other. They find themselves drawn to each other in a way that they both wish they weren’t.

Michael C. Hall is making the publicity rounds in advance of the new season of Dexter, premiering Sunday. Chicago’s NBC 5 talked with him and got a little bit of information about Yvonne’s role on the show:

What can you tease about Yvonne Strahovski coming on this season?

Not much, but Dexter first comes into contact with Hannah McKay, Yvonne’s character, because Deb is trying to fill his time with work that would otherwise be filled with stalking and killing people, but as a result he comes into contact, getting a DNA sample, with her character. From the first time they meet they’re circling one another to a degree. As you can imagine, Dexter has always been someone who’s been a magnet for chaos. He finds it and he finds it with her character and what happens between them.

SpoilerTV has some new, if tiny, promotional photos from Yvonne’s first episode of Dexter, titled “Buck the System”. From what little detail we can see in these small photos, it appears that Dexter and Batista first encounter Hanna McKay in a greenhouse.

Also, Zap2It has a feature on “great cast additions” this season, and described Yvonne’s character as “part of a Bonnie-and-Clyde-like duo”. That must be the boyfriend she mentioned in this article.
